New Palace

The New Palace - or "Neues Palais" in German - is one of the palaces built within the grounds of the Sanssouci Park. It features many great halls such as the Marble Hall, the Grotto Hall, the Concert Room and even its own Palace Theatre. During its construction King Frederick the Great ordered its architectural style to mirror baroque designs and combining it with a few decorations following the rococo style. The New Palace boasts many luxurious rooms and hallways within its walls such as the Grotto Hall, the Marble Gallery and Hall, and the Theatre to name a few. Prince Henry of Prussia - the younger brother of King Frederick II - preferred to stay in the New Palace. His room in the New Palace is abundantly decorated with portraits and patterns of peacocks with their magnificent and colorful feathers, other avian species, and a superabundance of peonies in full bloom.
