Prussian King Frederick the Great
Frederick II, named Frederick the Great, was King of Prussia (1740-1786).
Besides the new organisation and modernisation of the Prussian army, involvement in of the seven yearth' war, developing of the military theory, modernizing of the Prussian bureaucracy, reform of the judicial system and other his political efforts, he was well known through the development of the arts and the Enlightenment in Prussia.
His youth interest was not for the military, but more for philosophy and music. This fervour persisted whole his life long: Frederick supported arts and philosophers and promoted complete freedom of the press and literature.
