Calabash Mate Drinking Cup dark brown
The Calabash is the typical cup when using Mate or maté caffeine-rich infused drink. It is particularly liked in South America, but also in Asia minor and countries like Syria or by the Druze in Lebanon.
While the straws (often passed around in a group of Mate drinkers) traditionally were silverware, today also other metal material is available. Yet, the drinking cup is mostly made from a natural product, like the one which is on offer here. Hence, the colours are all individual, as each piece is unique. The gourd is often called a mate or a Calabash, particularly in Brazil, and in these, even today, maté is drunk.
The drink itself is prepared of dried leaves of Yerba, finely chopped, often smoked (although the more healthy version is unsmoked) and ground into a powdery mixture. We highly suggest you should have a go for testing this lovely, stimulating part of an entire ceremony. Pass around the gourd, using only the finest ingredienses from South America that will get you going. You will find apps on IOS or Android that will explain how exactly to proceed.
