Ceramic Minipresso Cup, 'Royal Flowers', white
The design of this elegant espresso coffee cup 'Royal Flowers' was produced as a painting by Gottfried Wilhelm Voelcker (Prussian, 1775-1849) in the year 1847 for the royal apartment in the Charlottenburg Palace, today's residence of Germany's Bundespräsident. That is a great example of designer coffee mugs and espresso cups, these coffee cup designs may remind you of a great trip to Berlin and its castles. With these ceramic coffee mugs and coffee cups you can build your own coffee set.
Gottfried Wilhelm Voelcker is a true ‘Berliner’. He received his training as a porcelain painter at the Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Berlin by his famous teacher Johann Friedrich Schulze in the early 19th century. He specialised in flower painting, but was later promoted to becoming the director of the whole porcelain factory (1833-1848). His art works focus on porcelain paintings but he also painted naturalistic pictures of flowers and fruit still lifes in oil and watercolor. Already in 1811, Völcker became a professor and was awarded membership of the Royal Prussian Academy of Arts in Berlin and joined the Berlin Artists Association (1814-1846). His works show influence of his tours to Vienna in 1821, Paris in 1823 and the Netherlands in 1825. He exhibited regularly with the Berlin Academy, but his biggest success were his porcelain creations.
