This beautiful piece of art is a rendering of the beautiful Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam, Germany. The palace was built for King Frederick II during his reign as king of Prussia. With this magnificent coaster, expressing your artistic self as you drink a cup of tea, coffee, or a cold beverage will never feel the same way again. And because it comes with a stand, this coaster can also serve as a decorative element in your home. A wonderful gift for anyone who appreciates art and beautiful things.

Frederick the Great

Frederick II was more widely known as Frederick the Great. He was Prussia's king from 1740 - 1786, ruling with wit and brilliant military strategies, Frederick II reacquired scattered Prussian territories - something his father before him was unable to do. He was also greatly loved by his people that they nicknamed him "Old Fritz" (Der Alte Fritz). He earned the Prussian people's veneration through modernizing Prussia, being tolerant of other religions, being a patron of music and arts, and greatly valued architecture - he ordered the construction of the Berlin State Opera, State Library Berlin, St. Hedwig's Cathedral, and Prince Henry's Palace (now Humboldt University). One of the renowned architectures built for Frederick II is the Sanssouci Palace. It's name is derived from the French phrase (sans souci), meaning "without concern." The Palace, meant as a private residence for the King, is acclaimed for its beautiful Late Baroque style and is often equated with France's Palace of Versailles.
