Like the other motifs (the Dove of Peace and the Face of Peace, which you will also find in our artsinhistory.com store), the Sleeping woman is one of those realist designs that Picasso executed in the early 50th of the 20th c. The image shows grace, rest and beauty, a symbol of peace. The entire series of 29 different motifs show Picassos engagement with the topic of peace, also creating the emblem for the first congress of peace in Paris in 1949 and following up on his hugely successful picture of Guernica in his battle for a peaceful world. If you want to secure more of these delicate designs, we also have other motives of Picasso on offer.
