Friends of JW von Goethe at some stage in their life will make the pilgrimage to Weimar in Thuringia, Germany. There, in on the sideboard of the von Goethe house, one will discover the original drinking glass or tumbler of this great poet. JW Goethe sipped from this modern glass his beloved wine and may have read out from his famous young Werther. Not only this book from Johann Goethe 'Sturm und Drang' period, but also the torrent of Goethe poems that flew from his pen in later years have made Goethe to the most famous writer of Germany, only comparable to Shakespeare in England. At the same time, this writer notes his love for a good life, often noted in the Anmerkungen (or footnotes) of editions of his works.

What we have on offer here is the authentic reproduction of this specially fabricated tumbler from his town house. It is exclusively made by the Freiherr von Poschinger manufacturing for the Bauhaus Museum of Weimar. It is a fine cylinder-shaped glass with a widened lip.
