Gustav Klimt Hope II, Figurine

Klimt created two different paintings entitled 'Hope'. Klimt Hope II was for the first time presented in 1909 during the second art exhibition of the so-called Kunstschau. Hope II hung together with Hope I, which had been painted six years earlier, albeit it had been removed because people felt it was indecent for the retrospective exhibition of the Secession. Klimt's response was: 'Everything is ugly, both they and what she sees, but in their growing beauty, there is hope'.

Who looks at the figurine can only agree with Klimt, despite the dark surrounding, her dress, her face, her body, there is beauty in this world.
