Gustav Klimt Poetry, Figurine

Gustav Klimt Poetry, Figurine

The dreamy female figure with her lyre is a part of the famous Beethoven Frieze which Klimt created for the Female Wing of the Vienna Secession Exhibition in the year 1902. Togehter with the sculpture of Beethoven by Max Klinger it was at the center of the exhibition and made Klimt world famous. The original painting which can still be seen today in its place depicts the various stages through which passes the human and especially the artist in his life looking for happiness. Yet it is neither fight nor anything, but the Hoelderlin message, namely poetry that wins over everything. Poetry is symbolized by this female figure which is itself inspired by antique paintings on vases as we can find them in Crete, Greek cities and Rome. The woman plays on the lyre, and we may think of Greek gods, the muses, perhaps Apollo and others

The figurine is a great asset to your family home, your study and any place for a lover of the muses, of poetry and art.
