Gustav Klimt Vase, The Expectation
The love of gold Klimt learned already through his father Ernst who had trained and worked as a gold engraver. With his family background of Bohemia he also had been acquainted with metal and glass works. Yet, young Gustav also had a musical parent in his mother Anna. Soon in his life, he knew that you wanted to become and artist and left at the age of 14 years school to finally join the Vienna Kunstgewerbeschule. Properly trained as a painter for walls and other architectural features, he became famous when he was asked to depict this wonderful Stoclet palace wall design.
The Klimt vase is a fantastic example of the symbolist's art work which also tends towards arts and crafts.
