This brilliant rendering of a painting of one of Prussia's greatest kings is a souvenir worth getting. Express your love for the classic, arts and royalty through this modern take on one of history's greatest kings.

Frederick the Great

Frederick II was more widely known as Frederick the Great. He was Prussia's king from 1740 - 1786, ruling with great strength, wit and with brilliant military strategies, Frederick II reacquired scattered Prussian territory something his father before him was unable to do. He was also greatly loved by his people that they nicknamed him "Old Fritz" (Der Alte Fritz). In his youth, Frederick II displayed fondness and talent for music, arts and languages resulting in his strict father prescribing military training however, his love for the music and arts endured and earned him the Prussian people's veneration when he modernized Prussia, he was tolerant of other religions, and continued to be a patron of music and arts, and valued architecture. Some famous landmarks in Germany that were commissioned by King Frederick II are the Berlin State Opera, State Library Berlin, St. Hedwig's Cathedral, and Prince Henry's Palace (now Humboldt University).
