Modigliani, NU FÉMININ ASSIS
Amedeo Modigliani (1884-1920) and his works are instantly recognizable. The typical elongated shapes remind of Gothic cathedrals, the stretch for the unattainable. It is not only a passion for the material, Modigliani goes beyond materiality, reduces matter and form and overtakes realities by imagination. He is not an abstract artist like Picasso, does not disturb or deconstruct objects. Instead, although living in early 20th century Paris, Montmartre, he moves away from his avantgardiste colleagues and developes his own style. Yet, his life was shortcut by disease and he reached only the age of forty.
A graphic design, here turned into a sculpture is of elegance, sublime warmth and charme. Reduced in features, enhanced in particulars, the figurine of the naked lady is intriguing.
The figurine's height is 14cm
